Karla Korpela Aho is a higher education fundraising professional serving as the Director for Gift Planning at Michigan Technological University. She is responsible for leading a comprehensive gift planning program that maximizes philanthropic support to Michigan Tech. As an integral leader in Advancement and Alumni Engagement initiatives to enhance the alumni lifecycle of engagement, Karla works to engage a continuum of donors to share the significance of private support and its impact on the educational experience for Michigan Tech students of today and the future. She has experience in all areas of fundraising and currently specializes in major outright and planned gifts, with a special focus on educating alumni and friends about gift planning options that can help meet their personal and charitable goals.
With a background in small business ownership, information systems and operations management, Karla also has a special interest in using data to identify, enhance and predict constituent and donor engagement. In addition to her fundraising work, Karla is also responsible for leading an outstanding and effective advancement research and analytics system for major and planned gifts and a personalized, donor-centric, multi-channel marketing and outreach program. Karla is an alumna of Michigan Technological University's School of Business and Economics and holds the Certified Fundraising Executive and Certified Specialist in Planned Giving designations.
